Maggie, a long-time widow, has her insular world transformed when she forms an unexpected friendship, via CB radio, with Adam, a Brecon Beacons park warden.
Since Maggie's husband Jack died, her life has become insular and repetitive, the same routine day in and day out. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Until one day, after accidentally knocking the on switch of her husband's old CB radio, which has remained idle for years, she comes into contact with Adam, a newly appointed park ranger on the Brecon Beacons. A friendship forms as Maggie, once a proficient photographer, introduces Adam via the airwaves to the spectacular views that the Brecon Beacons have to offer.
They share lunch together on a daily basis, getting to know each other via the dusty old radio. Maggie's world is transformed: she sees a purpose to her life once more. She has a reason to get up in the morning. She constructs a large map of the Brecon Beacons in the radio room and uses it to direct Adam to all the wonderful places she once enjoyed visiting when she was younger and had a real zest for life.
Maggie鈥檚 world suddenly comes tumbling down when one day Adam's boss comes on the radio insisting that Maggie ceases all contact with Adam. This is later confirmed by Adam, who has been threatened with the sack if he continues using his radio for personal conversations. Maggie and Adam, with great reluctance, discontinue their friendship. Does this mean Maggie will withdraw into herself again?
