Episode 1
Sara Cox plays cupid to help seven more rural romantics find the partner of their dreams. In this episode, we meet dairy farmers Grace (23, from Wales) and Martin (44, from Yorkshire).
Sara Cox grew up on her family’s pedigree beef farm in Lancashire and understands just how difficult it is to find love when you’re wedded to the land. In this six-episode series she’s playing cupid to help seven rural romantics find the partner of their dreams.
Living in remote, rural locations and working long hours are just two of the hurdles our seven lonely hearts face in their search for a romantic partner. To give them a step up the love-ladder they have each made online dating profiles, inviting people from across the UK to write them old-fashioned love letters. They choose their favourites to meet face-to-face at a speed dating event before inviting their top three back home to spend a weekend with them trying out country life. Our lonely hearts hope for everlasting love, but can they navigate the bumpy road to romance?
In the first episode, we meet 23-year-old Grace, a dairy and sheep farmer from Wales, and 44-year-old Martin, a dairy farmer from Yorkshire. Both are looking for a partner who will fall in love with them and their ways of life.
Grace lives with her parents on their 380-acre farm on the Welsh- Shropshire borders. Working alongside her father, Ivor, seven days a week she has little time to find love. Her dating pool is limited to fellow members of the Young Farmers’ Club, but now she wants to widen her net to see if she can find love from further afield. Now 62 years old, Ivor is planning to retire soon and the responsibility of managing the farm will fall entirely on Grace’s young shoulders. She is looking for a partner who is willing to support her in her busy life.
Martin’s farm near Doncaster has been in the family for three generations, and preserving that legacy is important to him. He wants to have children and continue the farming dynasty, but he’s recently taken over the running of the family business, which means he has had little time for romance. He has not been in a relationship for over a decade.
