Stuart explores plunderphonics, the art of altering existing audio recordings to make new compositions. Featuring music by People Like Us and Stock, Hausen and Walkmen as well as several tracks from Christian Marclay鈥檚 groundbreaking album Records. Released in 1997, Marclay鈥檚 Records is made up of fragments of existing vinyl records repeated, manipulated, layered and arranged in a way that makes the turntable an instrument in itself.
Plus there鈥檚 deep modern jazz from a new Japanese jazz compilation, Orkney-native composer Erland Cooper with a track to promote rural locations receiving fast internet first and Michele Mercure, a pioneering synthesist from the 1980鈥檚 with a track from her recently reissued album that was originally only released privately on cassette.
