The first voice heard on 大象传媒 Radio Foyle was that of Ian Kennedy. To mark the 40th anniversary of that moment when the station was launched on 11 September 1979, Ian, who was also Foyle鈥檚 first boss, returns to find out what is behind its enduring success. He remembers battling to assemble Foyle鈥檚 first team from scratch in just six weeks! He looks back at the bomb that rocked the first premises in the Northern Counties building just before the station鈥檚 first Christmas and an even more destructive explosion in June 1980 before the station found a temporary home at Magee and then settled on the Northland Road. We meet the stars given their first chance on Foyle like NBC News Chief Global Correspondent Bill Neely and we explore how sharing four decades of conversation, music, tears, and laughter has won the station a special place in the hearts of North West listeners.
