Ricky is joined by poets Lemn Sissay and Hannah Lavery, writer and activist Kevin Williamson and the musician Jamie Lawson, who plays live on the show.
Live music from ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’ singer Jamie Lawson, offerings of poetry, and a specially selected playlist from Ricky, provides a much needed respite this Sunday morning. Poet, author and broadcaster Lemn Sissay discusses the scars of a childhood spent in care, the subject of his memoir, ‘My Name is Why’. And with Black History Month coming up, Lemn joins Scottish poet and performer Hannah Lavery to explore Britain’s relationship with its colonial past and how that impacts on current attitudes towards race. The poetic line-up continues as Hannah and Kevin Williamson, writer and publisher, share their love for verse and speak about its power. Plus the words so sublime they must be passed on.
