After breaking two bones in her back at age 55, Christine was diagnosed with osteoporosis and forced to give up a job she loved. Christine is one of millions with osteoporosis; living in unbearable pain and permanent fear of breaking further bones.
We鈥檙e making progress
We鈥檝e funded research to understand why people develop osteoporosis and why some are at higher risk than others. People like Christine are now getting a diagnosis; because we鈥檙e speaking up for those affected and providing the vital information they need.
More research is the answer
In the UK, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 are expected to break a bone because of osteoporosis. By funding world class scientists, we could study the genetic causes of the disease and ways to detect it earlier.
