The attorney general orders a new inquest into the death of Derry schoolgirl Raychel Ferguson.
The Attorney general has ordered a new inquest into the death of a Derry schoolgirl who died from hyponatraemia 18 years ago.
Nine-year-old Raychel Ferguson died at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children in June 2001, a day after an appendix operation at Altnagelvin Hospital. Hypnatraemia is an abnormally low level of sodium in blood and can occur when fluids are wrongly administered. An inquiry later found that there was "a reluctance among clinicians to openly ackowledge failings", in her death. Raychel's parents say they hope the fresh inquest will get to the truth.
