Symphonic Dances, Symphonic Psalms, Symphonic Requiems

Dalia Stasevska conducts the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra in Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem, Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances and, with the 大象传媒 Singers, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms.

Composed in the shadow of the Second World War, Britten鈥檚 Sinfonia da Requiem opens Dalia Stasevska鈥檚 first concert at the Barbican as the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra鈥檚 Principal Guest Conductor.

Then to Stravinsky鈥檚 Symphony of Psalms - a devout musical gesture, re-imagining religious rituals on a symphonic scale 鈥揻or which the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra are joined by the 大象传媒 Singers. They conclude with one of the greatest tests of the conductor's art, Rachmaninov鈥檚 exhilarating Symphonic Dances; composed in America in 1940 just three years before his death, it pulses with rhythmic energy, embracing jazz, plainchant and the waltz.
