´óÏó´«Ã½ Children in Need

´óÏó´«Ã½ Children in Need exists to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in communities across the UK.Ìý The challenges children and young people face are diverse and complex, including poverty, disability, mental ill health, child sexual exploitation, neglect and more.ÌýThanks to our fundraisers and supporters, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Children in Need is able to fund over 3,000 local charities and projects. In the last year alone, it’s helped 600,000 children and young people in every part of the UK.

Sight for Surrey

Sight for Surrey

One of those projects is Sight for Surrey, which receivesÌý2 grants from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Children in Need to a total value of £102,361. It provides bespoke support servicesÌý& activity sessions to meet the needs of Blind, partially sightedÌý& Deafblind children,Ìý& their families within Surrey.

Niamh’s story

Niamh’s story
Four years ago, 16 year old Niamh’s life turned upside down when a regular opticiansÌývisit lead to a diagnosis of retinitis pigmentosa – a rare, genetic disorder of the eyes that causes loss of vision. With support from Sight for Surrey, Niamh learnt to use a cane so that she could go out on her own.
