It was the year Nelson Mandela left prison and Margaret Thatcher left Number 10. Grant and Phil spelt trouble as they arrived on Albert Square and we cried a river with Gazza as we waved goodbye to the World Cup.

Trevor Nelson honours the year that was 1990 and though it was the beginning of Brit Pop, Boy bands and Girl Power, the playlist will feature the likes of Elton John, Madonna, Snap, EMF, Soul II Soul and Whitney.
