British judges have been under attack like never before in recent years, described as 鈥渆nemies of the people鈥� by one newspaper. The Supreme Court was accused by Downing Street of making 鈥渁 serious mistake鈥� in its ruling on the prorogation of Parliament.

The Conservative Party鈥檚 election manifesto promised ominously to look at 鈥渢he relationship between the Government, Parliament and the courts鈥�.
