The Pawnbroker is reading a book by John Doran about growing up in Derry. It mentions Barman Duffy who Sean knew very well but never knew where he got the nickname from. Adrienne thinks it may have been because he worked the doors at dance halls and would have barred many people.
No one knows why we say 'a wee deadener' to describe someone who is very cheeky.
Joan would like to hear You Are My Sunshine because her father used to sing it to her on their way to church. Iris was brought to her school as a 'Bring Your Granny' to school day and her grand daughter said she loved her granny because "she made lovely stew".
Sean's grandson had to talk about his granda at school and told the class 'My granda spends all day lying on the sofa watching Judge Judy.' Ron in Belfast remembers a Gerry Kelly TV show where grandparents and grandchildren were in the audience and a four year old was asked 'What's your granny really like?' and the girl said 'Vodka and coke'.
