Lammermuir Festival (4/4)
Acclaimed period instrument quartet Quatuor Mosaïques play Beethoven and Haydn at the Lammermuir Festival.
Kate Molleson presents the final Lunchtime Concerts featuring Austria’s leading period instrument quartet, Quatuor Mosaïques. Today’s concert was recorded in Crichton Collegiate Church as part of the Lammermuir Festival in 2019. The concert starts with the most famous of Haydn's six quartets of 1793, his String Quartet in G minor Op 59, No 3. It is known as the 'Rider' thanks to the bouncy theme in the last movement.
Quatuor Mosaïques round off our visit to the Lammermuir Festival with the third of Beethoven's 'Razumovsky' quartets. Incendiary music that, at the time, challenged players and audience alike.
