Heroes 1
Documentary series. Can the team get a hero-shot of the big cats? Anne the elephant undergoes rehabilitation. And meet a villainous sheep with the power to take down a cameraman.
Kate Humble and Ben Fogle are back at Longleat Safari Park to hail the heroes of Animal Park. First up we meet Anne, one of Europe’s oldest Asian elephants. After footage emerged of this former circus elephant being abused and mistreated, a rescue mission was launched to bring her to the park. After nearly a decade in residence, we catch up with Anne and her knights in shining armour – the dedicated keepers who have been rehabilitating her. Just how far has she come since those dark days?
Keeper Jon introduces Ben to Rio, the cheeky cockatoo who is in need of a shower. But will they become BFFs, or is Ben about to sour a relationship that could turn Rio against him for life?
Meanwhile, for every superhero, there is a villain, and Kate Humble is stepping straight into the lair of horned hell-raiser Cecil the Cameroon sheep. A rare breed indeed, and after a confrontation with a cameraman, a viral sensation.
Hopefully, award-winning photographer Will Burrard-Lucas won’t suffer a similar fate. He is helping super-fan keeper Caleb to capture a prey’s-eye-view of the big cats. But can Will’s remote-control ‘buggy-cam’ survive the lion’s den? Or will it crack under the pressure?
