Nile Rodgers, Brideshead Revisited 75th and A House Through Time

Nile Rodgers, musician and producer, talks to Janice in a gem from our archives, and we look ahead to the next series of the award-winnig history series A House Through Time.

There's another chance to hear musician and super producer Nile Rodgers talking to Janice about his 2012 book Le Freak: An Upside-Down Story of Family, Disco and Destiny.

Presenter David Olusoga talks about the new series of the award-winning A House Through Time where he uses painstaking detective work - genealogical records, contemporary documents, and the help of expert witnesses - to trace the lives of the occupants of a single house, getting to know individual characters and following their stories wherever they lead. The focus of this series is a house in Bristol which has links to piracy, a foundling baby, and a runaway slave.

The classic novel Brideshead Revisited is celebrating its 75th anniversary this week. Janice talks to Jenny Niven, programme director of The Brideshead Festival, planned to take place at Castle Howard, where the classic television adaptation was shot, and now sadly cancelled. They talk about the impact of the cancellation of so much arts and culture already this year, before going on to talk about why this novel deserves to be celebrated and why it's great escapism for our current situation.

We鈥檒l be helping you tear your eyes from the nearest screen as Owen Duffy, tabletop games expert, gives us his recommendations of immersive card games, perfect for anyone who wants a bit of escapism from the familiar four walls!

And we鈥檒l be hearing more from those around the country who are Making a Difference; today Caroline Cassidy from Scottish Ballet will be telling us about their initiative to help tired and stressed NHS workers.
