Cher, PopMaster and the Love Song

Cher chooses the Tracks of My Years from an interview originally recorded in 2013. There's the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster.

Cher, superstar, actress and singer, chooses the Tracks of My Years from an interview originally recorded in 2013. Cher first gained popularity in 1965 as one-half of the folk rock husband-wife duo Sonny & Cher after their song "I Got You Babe" peaked at number one on the US and UK charts. By the end of 1967, they had sold 40 million records worldwide and had become, according to Time magazine, rock's "it" couple. Cher began her solo career simultaneously, releasing in 1966 her first million-seller song, "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)". She became a television personality in the 1970s with her shows The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, watched by over 30 million viewers weekly during its three-year run. She emerged as a fashion trendsetter by wearing elaborate outfits on her television shows. In this interview with Ken she talks about her latest album - the first in over ten years - "Closer To The Truth" - which was released in September 2013. Her next two song choices come from The Eagles and Bonnie Raitt.

Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
