Violinist Thomas Gould with spine-tingling sounds

Violinist Thomas Gould opens up a colourful selection of music from the inside - revealing familiar and unfamiliar works in a new light.

Violinist Thomas Gould brings his many experiences as a soloist, chamber player and orchestral member to his choices today. He thinks about the limitless ways a singer like Ren茅e Fleming can inflect a single note, and enjoys the powerful emotional effect created by Barbra Streisand as she chooses when, and more importantly when not, to use vibrato.

There鈥檚 also riotous energy from composers Gyorgy Ligeti and Camille Saint-Sa毛ns, and Thomas reveals his 鈥榳ake up鈥 moment in Handel鈥檚 Messiah (it鈥檚 not the Hallelujah chorus).

A series in which each week a musician reveals a selection of music - from the inside.
