Brandee Younger and Dezron Douglas Home Session
Live music from harpist Brandee Younger and bassist Dezron Douglas. Plus A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad shares some of his jazz inspirations.
Kevin Le Gendre presents an exclusive home session from harpist Brandee Younger and bassist Dezron Douglas recorded in lockdown in Brooklyn. Both leading players on the US scene, Younger and Douglas have a long-standing musical association with saxophonist Ravi Coltrane as well as star drummer Makaya McCraven. Their music draws from jazz, RnB, hip hop and beyond.
Also in the programme, Ali Shaheed Muhammad from A Tribe Called Quest, the revered hip hop group known for their innovative use of jazz samples, shares some of the music that inspires him. And bassist William Parker calls in to introduce one of his latest compositions.
Produced by Dominic Tyerman for Somethin’ Else.
