Kate Rusby and Lau
Folk singer Kate Rusby shares music from her new covers LP Hand Me Down and Martin Green of folk trio Lau tells Roddy about their new EP, Live Series 1.0.
Roddy Hart is live from Pacific Quay in Glasgow with a host of friends dropping in remotely alongside new releases and archive sessions.
Award-winning folk singer Kate Rusby has recorded a new album this year – a collection of contemporary pop covers called Hand Me Down. Instead of traditional songs, Kate has reversioned some of her favourite modern classics including Oasis, The Cure, The Kinks and The Bangles. She also shares 2 live performances recorded at home.
Martin Green of Scottish folk trio Lau dials in to tell Roddy about the band’s activities during lockdown. They’ve released a series of archive, rare and live recordings and the latest EP, Live Series 1.0, features performances captured during the start of their Unplugged Tour (rescheduled for 2021) and a collaboration with Chris Watson (founding member of Cabaret Voltaire – and one of the world’s leading recordists of wildlife and natural phenomena). And there’s another chance to enjoy Lau live at The Quay Sessions in 2019.
Billy Sloan chooses his favourite live album, Baby Taylah introduces us to her new single, Good Enough and hear performance highlights from Ren Harvieu.
