Mr Monty Burns is, of course, Springfield's powerful nuclear power plant owner. He鈥檚 astonishingly old and incredibly rich - the American business magazine Forbes estimates he鈥檚 worth $1.3 billion.

His catchphrase is the word 鈥榚xcellent鈥�. He also occasionally orders his long suffering assistant Smithers to "release the hounds", so his vicious guard dogs can attack intruders, enemies or even guests he鈥檚 invited to his home.

The main suspects in the shooting were Waylon Smithers and Homer Simpson, but - spoiler alert - it was actually Maggie Simpson, the baby of the family.
