J.K. Rowling and PopMaster
J.K. Rowling, award winning author best known for the Harry Potter books, chooses her final Tracks of My Years. There's the daily love song, album of the week and PopMaster.
J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series and now writing as Robert Galbraith, is choosing the Tracks of My Years all week with Ken. Under her Robert Galbraith pseudonym, J.K. has written five books in the series about the private detective Cormoran Strike. The first of these, 'The Cuckoo鈥檚 Calling', was published to critical acclaim in 2013, at first without its author鈥檚 true identity being known. 'The Silkworm' followed in 2014, 'Career of Evil' in 2015 and 'Lethal White' in 2018. The fifth book 'Troubled Blood' came out earlier this month, and heavily references the songs of Canadian singer songwriter Joni Mitchell, in particular her most successful album 'Court And Spark', which was originally released in 1974. The first four books have been adapted for a major television series for the 大象传媒, with the most recent, 'Lethal White', having just aired on 大象传媒 One .
The Harry Potter novels sold more than 500 million copies, becoming the best-selling book series in history and later became the basis of a popular film series much loved by both children and adults alike.
In 2012, J.K. published her first novel for adults, 'The Casual Vacancy' which has now been translated into 44 languages and was adapted for TV by the 大象传媒 in 2015. Music has always played a big part in J.K.'s life and during lockdown she's discovered many more songs and musical pieces that resonate with her busy and much travelled life. The final two tracks she's chosen come from Bill Withers and The Brand New Heavies.
Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of the legendary PopMaster Quiz. If you'd like to get in touch email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
