Readers young and old join the team this week with ideas for books in – or about – Ulster-Scots.

Books in – or about – Ulster-Scots are the focus of this week’s Kintra with readers young and old bringing us samples of their favourite reads.

As the nights draw in, there’s a lot of comfort from a good read and it’s a great habit to develop. This week, the Kintra team is joined by 10 year old Jake and Queens’ student Molly Liggett who share well-known children’s stories that have been translated into Ulster-Scots or Scots. Listener Brian Sweeny reviews a good read which gave him a glimpse back into local history and we’ve poems from Roy Ferguson that are included in a new charity compilation. The team of Helen Mark, Rab Lennox and Jonnie Crawford reflect on the place a good read has in their lives and the joy of reading to – and with – children.
The friendly folk on the Kintra team are always up for a yarn if you’ve one to share – a tune to request or an Ulster-Scots event to promote. They’d be happy to hear from you by email at kintra@bbc.co.uk .
