The Love Song and Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood shares her favourite tracks with Ken as we celebrate Country Music Week on the show. There's the daily love song plus more from the legendary music quiz PopMaster.
Carrie Underwood, American Country singer songwriter, chooses the Tracks of My Years as we celebrate Country Music Week on the show. The interview was first broadcast in 2016 following the release of her fifth studio album 'Storyteller' which went on to become a commercial success and set multiple sales records. It made Carrie the only country artist in history to have all of her first five studio albums debut at number one or two and with a number one debut on the Top Country Albums chart, it also made her the only artist to score six consecutive number one albums on the chart. Carrie first rose to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005 and hasn't stopped working since. In 2018 she released her sixth studio album the critically acclaimed 'Cry Pretty' marking the first time she has co-produced her own album and this autumn she will release her much anticipated, first ever Christmas album 'My Gift'. The album will feature a combination of beloved traditional favourites celebrating her faith and the spiritual nature of the holiday as well as original material.
Last year Carrie celebrated her 11th anniversary as a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry. She also packed arenas across North America with 'The Cry Pretty Tour 360', featuring an all-female line-up with Maddie & Tae and Runaway June, with sold-out shows including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and L.A.’s Staples Centre.
The next two tracks Carrie has chosen come from Dolly Parton and Guns N' Roses. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruced@bbc.co.uk
