Jo is joined by Biffy Clyro鈥檚 Simon Neil for a Sofa Session, including music from the #1 album, A Celebration of Endings.

The band鈥檚 approach to 鈥楢 Celebration of Endings鈥 was simple. Keep things fresh and maintain the wide-eyed wonder of what they do. Surprise themselves and each other. Push things to their furthest extremes. Their first building block in embracing the new was to turn to an old friend. In came Rich Costey, producer of 鈥楨llipsis鈥.

鈥淭his is a very forward-looking album from a personal perspective and a societal perspective,鈥 explains frontman Simon Neil. 鈥淭he title is about seeing the joy in things changing, rather than the sadness. Change means progression and evolution. You can retain everything you loved before, but let鈥檚 lose the bad [stuff]. It鈥檚 about trying to take back control.鈥

That idea manifests itself in various ways. On a personal level that might be a relationship which has reached a point where it鈥檚 in both parties鈥 interest to separate. And on a wider scale, it鈥檚 about standing up for what you believe in.

Plus Mark Radcliffe chats about his book, Crossroads.

Standing at the crossroads - the Mississippi crossroads of Robert Johnson and the devil's infamous meeting - Mark Radcliffe found himself facing his own personal juncture. Aged sixty, he had just mourned the death of his father, only to be diagnosed with mouth and throat cancer. Together these events led Radcliffe to think about pivotal tracks in music and how the musicians who wrote and performed them had reached the crossroads that led to such epoch-changing music.

Crossroads is a warm, intimate account of music and its power to transform our lives, as Radcliffe takes a personal journey through these key tracks.
