Sam Smith, Sarah Millican and Josh Groban
Sam Smith is on the show and they've recorded two special live tracks for the show. Sarah Millican is on the line talking about her latest UK tour. Josh Groban phones in from LA.
Sam Smith is on the show with Zoe talking about their latest album Love Goes. They've also recorded two exclusive live tracks for the show. The new album from the Oscar, Grammy and Brit Award winning artist features songs that also mirror the healing process of heartbreak, from its most painful moments through to resolution. A session with Calvin Harris gave birth to 鈥淧romises鈥, an international smash that affirmed what Sam had long hoped for: that they could be embraced for the dance-spun pop music they wanted to make too. The album title track was born from a session with Labrinth, Sam imagines the song as a duet between a lover and their ex. Building on the 30 billion career streams Sam has amassed and the global success of their debut and sophomore albums, both No.1, multi-platinum selling records in the UK and US.
Sarah Millican, the hugely successful comedian, is on the phone to Zoe to talk about her brand new Bobby Dazzler tour. In this, her sixth international tour, you'll learn about what happens when your mouth seals shut, trying to lose weight but only losing the tip of your finger and how truly awful a floatation tank can actually be. Sarah has spent the last year writing jokes and she says she can't wait to get back on the road and make you laugh.
Josh Groban, the hugely successful US singer-songwriter is phoning Zoe live from LA tell her all about his new album. Josh is a multi-Platinum, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and actor. He has already achieved three number one albums in America plus three consecutive Top 10 albums in in the UK, including the number 1 album Stages in 2015. His new album Harmony is out now and features his new single Your Face. Before the pandemic, he was about a third of the way through recording Harmony. He had originally envisioned the album to be all covers but COVID-19 changed that while he was stuck at home.
Along with Tina Daheley on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, Zoe and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, quizzes, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners, and more music that you can shake a glitterball at!
There's also a daily Pause For Thought with the Reverend Richard Coles as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought
St Nicholas鈥 Day on Saturday, a big deal in the Medieval church, and perhaps an even bigger deal today, in modified form. You may not think so, but you鈥檝e definitely heard of him, He was a third century bishop of Myra, on the Mediterranean, and his life, according to legend, was devoted to good deeds. So saintly was he, that when he died his body exuded a fragrant liquor - enjoy that cappuccino, folks - which had miraculous properties, and people came from far and wide to buy it in little bottles and take home.聽
You still can, for on his feast day priests collect it from his tomb, now in Italy for complicated reasons, which still weeps (sea water, thanks to marble鈥檚 capillary action, but - hey - saint juice is saint juice). He鈥檚 also responsible for the three golden balls that hang outside pawnbrokers; for he once tossed three bags of gold through the window of a poor man to pay the dowries of his three daughters, so they could marry and live happily ever after. But that鈥檚 not why you know him. Again, according to his legend, he once calmed a storm and saved his ship; and ever since he鈥檚 been patron of sailors.聽
Wherever they went, they took him with them, some were Dutch, and sailed to America, where they became the first European settlers of what we call New York. In the Dutch language Saint Nicholas is known as Sinter Klaas - you can see where this is going - and over the years, in American English, that became Santa Claus. Fast forward to the invention of Coca Cola, and in the 30s advertising executives created the Santa we know today - dressed in red, with fur trimmed hat and a white beard; an interesting example of how Christmas traditions often begin where piety and profit meet. Every year, about this time, vicars moan that commerce has taken over Christmas. It鈥檚 never really bothered me, even though I did pause once on the way to a crematorium which had put Santa riding his sleigh over the gates.聽
But I love to see the sparkle of tinsel, the glow of fairy lights, the distant sound of carols. Something wonderful is coming, and we need to know more than ever this year, so dark for so many. Something good is coming. There is light in the darkness. Good news for all.
