Brian Protheroe’s Pinball is one of those great records that just sounds cool whenever you hear it. It proved to be only a moderate hit at the time, but it’s grown in stature ever since. The man who wrote it and sung it is a highly-regarded actor, and he's been the voice of Channel 4’s hit TV series First Dates for the past seven years. And he still makes music to this day, with his brand new album Desert Road out this week. It features a superb demo version of that cult classic, so Johnnie will be chatting with him about the song, and finding out if its true that (so the story goes) Morrissey brought it to the attention of the Oasis songwriter in a Los Angeles bar one night, several years ago.

Emma Whittaker from West Sussex tells us why she’s chosen a 1978 song to go into Johnnie’s Jukebox, even though she was still in nappies when it was in the chart.
