Gary Barlow has live music recorded from home, Jenna Coleman tells Zoe about her latest role in a big 大象传媒 One drama and another Strictly Come Dancing couple chat ahead of the final

Gary Barlow chats to Zoe about his brand new album 'Music Played By Humans' and he's recorded exclusive live tracks from home. It's Gary鈥檚 first solo album since 2013鈥檚 double platinum-selling 鈥楽ince I Saw You Last.鈥 It features collaborations with Michael Bubl茅, James Corden, Alesha Dixon, Barry Manilow, Chilly Gonzales and Beverley Knight. The album is an ode to the sounds of Gary鈥檚 childhood, the orchestral and big band music which captured his imagination and eventually led to this album of original compositions recorded with a full 80-piece orchestra. Gary is one of the UK's most successful singer-songwriters, writing numerous number one and top ten hits, he's also been awarded six Ivor Novello Awards.

Jenna Coleman tells Zoe about 大象传媒 One鈥檚 international crime drama The Serpent which will premiere on New Year鈥檚 Day at 9pm. Inspired by real events, The Serpent tells the remarkable story of how the conman and murderer Charles Sobhraj was brought to justice. Posing as a gem dealer, Sobhraj and his girlfriend Marie-Andr茅e Leclerc (played by Jenna Coleman) travelled across Thailand, Nepal and India in 1975 and 1976, carrying out a spree of crimes on the Asian 鈥楬ippie Trail鈥 and becoming the chief suspects in a series of murders of young Western travellers.

Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer, one of the Strictly Come Dancing couples facing the final phone in to chat to Zoe as they look ahead to the weekend. The biggest show on TV is nearing the Grand Final as the four remaining couples dance live on Saturday night on 大象传媒 One to take home the legendary glitterball trophy. Last year professional dancer Oti Mabuse and actor Kelvin Fletcher were crowned champions of the series.

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

From the Reverend Richard Coles:

鈥楾was the night before Strictly, and all round the set,

Lay puddles of tears that were shed by Janette听

When she and the nation were moved by the pleas

Of her partner, who all but got down on his knees,听

So the judges鈥 four tens would by us be upheld,

I can鈥檛 say his name for it鈥檚 funnily spelled听

With an H and an R and a V and Y

He doesn鈥檛 like vowels, I鈥檝e no idea why.听

Successfully done! (however, you say it),听

And the bookies think Harvey and she might just slay it,

But there鈥檚 Bill, butch in Latin, in ballroom so floaty,

A miracle thanks to the brilliance of Oti,

Who takes twenty years off a middle aged man

Choreographically summoning Pan,

To the sound of Dave Arch and the band in the groove -听

The thing in week two was my favourite move,听

When arms up went one way and legs went the other,

So synched you would think they were sister and brother, 听

And better and better they get every week,

Dispatching first Jacqui and Anton du Beke;

Then down went the others, until there remained听

The glitter ball - theirs if a victory鈥檚 gained...

But between it and them, three more couples stand yet -

I鈥檝e already said H.R.V.Y and Janette -听

but there鈥檚 Jamie and Karen, and Maisie and Gorks,

And the path to success is not straight, for it forks,听

And can go either way, just consider the run

of Karen and Jamie, for it had begun

Not with this slate of couples, but back with last year鈥檚

When Jamie departed, in pain and in tears.

He鈥檚 returned, with a vengeance, and Karen on side,听

And the tears of frustration were transmogrified 听

into tears of delight, for in spite of the song,

Their salsa to Last Dance went more right than wrong,

And they鈥檙e dancing again, in the final no less,

but will they checkmate with their Tango-themed chess?听

That leaves only Maisie, well partnered with Gorka,听

Their Viennese waltz in the semis, a corker:

So graceful, so pretty, I ask myself how

He got on when he played with Athletic Bilbao?

And Maisie鈥檚 a wonder, in ballroom and Latin,听

She raises the pulse (oh thank goodness for statin),

She鈥檚 a worthy contender, the judges agree,听

Let鈥檚 hope she鈥檚 not stopped on the A5183.

It鈥檚 all happening tomorrow: till then we must wait:

Like Christians in Advent, who anticipate,

A result for us all, not just champions of dance -听

But for those who would not stand a ghost of a chance,

For the clumsy and hopeless, for those who are fated听

To leave in round two, so unco-ordinated,

For all who are tired, fed up, and have been

Worn out by the trials of COVID19...

Look up, look up all, from the dark and the cold,

For a wonderful thing is right there to behold,听

A glitterball moving across the night sky听

Towards Bethlehem, where our victory is nigh.
