The Love Song and Lewis Capaldi
Lewis Capaldi selects the Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2019. There's the daily love song and another round of the legendary PopMaster quiz.
Lewis Capaldi, arguably the UK's biggest breakthrough singer-songwriter of recent years, chooses the Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2019. It came at the time he'd just released his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent' which went on to become the biggest selling album of that year. It was certified platinum in just ten weeks and stayed in the top ten right up until November last year.
May 2020 saw the release of his live EP 鈥楾o Tell The Truth I Can鈥檛 Believe We Got This Far鈥 - a package of carefully selected live performances of tracks taken from the album. The EP is home to exclusive stripped back versions, as well as performances on the rooftop of the famous Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, and a special version of 鈥楽omeone You Loved鈥 that was performed earlier this year to millions across the globe at the BRIT Awards, where Lewis walked away joint biggest winner of the night.
Becoming the biggest streamed week 1 debut of all time, the album spawned five UK Top 10 singles in 鈥楬old Me While You Wait鈥 , 鈥楤ruises鈥 and 鈥楪race鈥 , the recently crowned chart topper 鈥楤efore You Go鈥 and number 1 smash hit single of 2019 鈥楽omeone You Loved鈥, which spent seven weeks at the summit of the Official Singles Chart and had spent more weeks in the Official Singles Chart Top 10 than any other song ever by a British act. It also became Lewis鈥 first ever US number 1, as well as bagging him his first Grammy nomination for 鈥楽ong Of The Year鈥.
The next two tracks Lewis has chosen come from The Beatles and Florence & The Machine. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
