Lewis Capaldi's Final Tracks of My Years
Lewis Capaldi chooses his final Tracks of My Years in an interview first aired in 2019. There's the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster.
Lewis Capaldi, arguably the UK's biggest breakthrough singer-songwriter of recent years, chooses his final Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2019. It came at the time he'd just released his debut album 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent' which went on to become the biggest selling album of that year. It was certified platinum in just ten weeks and stayed in the top ten right up until November last year.
May 2020 saw the release of his live EP ‘To Tell The Truth I Can’t Believe We Got This Far’ - a package of carefully selected live performances of tracks taken from the album. The EP is home to exclusive stripped back versions, as well as performances on the rooftop of the famous Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, and a special version of ‘Someone You Loved’ that was performed earlier this year to millions across the globe at the BRIT Awards, where Lewis walked away joint biggest winner of the night.
Becoming the biggest streamed week 1 debut of all time, the album spawned five UK Top 10 singles in ‘Hold Me While You Wait’ , ‘Bruises’ and ‘Grace’ , the recently crowned chart topper ‘Before You Go’ and number 1 smash hit single of 2019 ‘Someone You Loved’, which spent seven weeks at the summit of the Official Singles Chart and had spent more weeks in the Official Singles Chart Top 10 than any other song ever by a British act. It also became Lewis’ first ever US number 1, as well as bagging him his first Grammy nomination for ‘Song Of The Year’.
The final two tracks Lewis has chosen come from Joe Cocker and Queen. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
