Dame Mary Berry and Claudia Winkleman chat to Zoe about their new TV show, Celebrity Best Home Cook, on 大象传媒 One. The programme celebrates the very best of home cooking; in this series, ten stars from the worlds of sport, TV and comedy will cook their hearts out with one goal: to serve up brilliant and tasty food to impress the judges and be crowned Celebrity Best Home Cook. The brave celebrities battling it out are: reality TV star Ferne McCann, Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas, comedian Desiree Burch, ex-politician and broadcaster Ed Balls, TV presenter Karim Zeroual, actor Ruth Madeley, reality TV star Tom Read Wilson, actor Shobna Gulati, comedian Ed Byrne and journalist Rachel Johnson.

Ruti Olajugbagbe tells Zoe about her new single with Billy Ocean, The Young Voices Choir and YolanDa Brown. They have recorded a version of Lovely Day, originally performed by Bill Withers. The Young Voices Choir is an inclusive education programme designed to use music to develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, mindfulness and innovation. They have headlined 224 arenas across the UK including a record breaking 49th concert at the Manchester Arena which is the most by any act. Ruti was a part of the Young Voices Choir when she was 8 years old. She says 鈥淚t鈥檚 incredible to think we鈥檒l be singing this single alongside thousands of people across the country and maybe even the world鈥�.

Pause For Thought

Without a flicker of warning, our lights went out.聽聽A powercut last month made not only the lights, but oven, and to add insult to injury, our broadband disappear, plunging my stunned family into a strange silent darkness.聽

With my husband in meltdown unable to watch the weekly most important match of the Year, and watching our phone batteries tumbling, we frenetically flicked the聽fuse box聽switches, which resolutely refused to reset.聽聽

Dejected, we surveyed our options and our uncooked dinner. Huddling in coats, the only heat came from the various festival candles I set blazing on the kitchen table like a giant combined shabbat, Chanukah and birthday celebration.聽聽

Luckily, my neighbour Nicola was away and with her permission and spare key, we decamped with the dogs, our phone chargers and enormous gratitude 鈥� to order pizza and await assistance.聽聽

The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day tomorrow, is be the Light in the Darkness and this year the world really does feel dark. We鈥檒l remember the 6 million Jews, the Roma, gay, black, disabled and other victims of the Nazis, and victims of more recent genocides.聽聽聽Photos of Uyghur Muslims in China being marched into trains, hair shaved and blindfolded, and the surge in White Supremacist racism in America remind us that identity-based hatred hasn鈥檛 gone away.聽聽Today鈥檚 climate of uncertainty and fear is exploited by people who want to divide us 鈥� one group pitched against another.聽

For my fortunate family, about to crawl home into cold rooms聽but snug beds, after just 7 hours, help arrived.聽聽The cooker, heating, computers and, joy of joys, the lights聽sprang into action 鈥� our safe and secure life restored in a millisecond.聽聽聽Thankfully we can鈥檛 begin to imagine facing real darkness, the impenetrable deep darkness of oppression.聽

On Holocaust Memorial Day tomorrow, people across the nation will unite by lighting candles at 8pm. So, with this weeks鈥� most important match of the year on pause, and dinner bubbling in the oven, my family鈥檚 little beam of candle light will stream into the dark night through our front window to highlight the dangers of prejudice and hatred, reminding me just how very lucky I am.聽聽
