Francis Spufford, Happy Sounds and the Tuesday Review

Francis Spufford tells Janice about his new novel Light Perpetual, plus reviews of The Investigation, My Mum Tracy Beaker, and Adam Curtis' Can't Get You Out of My Head.

Janice talks to broadcaster Matthew Bannister about his Folk on Foot podcast, and the online festival he鈥檚 organising for the weekend: The Folk on Foot Festival of Love.

Writer Francis Spufford鈥檚 debut novel, published when he was 52, won him a host of literary prizes. The much-anticipated follow-up, Light Perpetual, has just been published 鈥� he tells Janice about it.

In the autumn, musician Tommy Perman asked his friends to send him 鈥渉appy sounds鈥� such as a child giggling, or birdsong. He鈥檚 now used them to create an album, Positive Interactions 鈥� which he hopes will cheer everyone who listens to it!

And in the Tuesday Review, Kelly Apter, Neil Cooper and Catherine Montgomery share their thoughts on The Investigation 鈥� the acclaimed Danish TV series based on the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall; plus My Mum Tracy Beaker, a new story about Tracey鈥檚 daughter, 20 years after the kids tv series was first filmed; and Can鈥檛 Get You Out of My Head, Adam Curtis鈥� new films for iPlayer, which he describes as An Emotional History of the Modern World.
