Sienna Miller, the multi-award winning actress, tells Zoe about her brand new movie. Wander Darkly tells the story of a traumatic accident that leaves a couple, Adrienne (Sienna Miller) and Matteo (Diego Luna) in a surreal state of being that takes them on a disorientating journey through the duality of their shared moments. They relive fond recollections from the start of their romances and navigate overwhelming truths of their present, rediscovering what binds them together. Sienna has said she was challenged by the jumping between different moments in time – past, present and fantasy. Sienna has starred in some of the most popular and successful films of the last 20 years, including; Layer Cake, Alfie, Stardust, 21 Bridges and the Oscar nominated Foxcatcher and American Sniper.

Gabrielle, the multi-million selling UK singer-songwriter, has recorded two live tracks for the show from home. Plus she tells Zoe all about her brand new and sixth studio album, Do It Again. It features covers of recent chart hits and iconic compositions with her own timeless take on them plus two brand new singles co-written by Gabrielle, Stop Right Now and Can’t Hurry Love. Gabrielle has achieved five UK Top 10 albums to date, has won Brit Awards, MOBO's and an Ivor Novello Award. She appeared on The Masked Singer in February and was revealed as Harlequin.

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

May I tell you about my favourite ever trip to a pub. Not packed-pub chaos or even my legendary Britney Spears karaoke warble. No, I choose perhaps the quietest pub I’ve known. Just me, three friends, the landlord, and the pub dog.

Ìý

We were in our twenties, in Kingsand, a Cornish smuggler’s cove of a village. Off-peak and bleak, only a fool would head to the sea in such a wet winter – but I’ve always enjoyed the company of fools.

Ìý

Along a narrow coastal lane, we saw the bright lights of The Devonshire Arms, with waves mounting the harbour wall. Time it wrong, you’re having a pint with wet shoes.

Ìý

I opened the door, damp and wind-battered, to find a roaring fire, a wagging tail and a barman who thought he might earn a tenner from us at best. Pints in tankards, bags of crisps torn open to share, and our pick of tables – fireside of course, I had socks to dry. The dog joined us. Quiz night had been cancelled, so we invented our own. All was well with a world that but we set it to rights anyway.

Ìý

The closing time bell rang too soon. After brief shelter from the storm, the wild weather was ours to face again.Ìý

Ìý

Next day, a drier Sunday, I found another ‘public’ house: God’s house, Cawsand Congregational, a church even closer to the sea, built into the harbour wall. It struck me that biblical images of storms and shelter must resonate stronger here. In the Psalms, God quietens the storm, hushes the waves. Or if they rage on, He provides shelter.Ìý

Ìý

As the ocean lashed the wall, I appreciated sanctuary all the more. Generations had found refuge in either public building: a pint in one, a prayer in the other.

Ìý

I’ve thought of there often this winter. Cold rain or gales remind me of the fierce Atlantic, and the huge relief, welcome, friendship, and a dog by a crackling fire. I’ve not even mentioned the Cornish ale.Ìý

Ìý

From pub to church, may these community hubs reopen strong, and keep serving. Community persists, online or over garden fences. But waiting for us are warm welcomes, shared crisps and pub dogs. After a storm like this one, I’ll need somewhere to dry my socks.
