Episode 4
A post box used in a wedding ceremony and a worn-out but much-loved armchair are among the objects transformed into beautiful and functional items by the skilled team of remakers.
Sabrina Grant presents as objects arrive at the workshop – unused but too precious to be thrown out. A team of expert crafters are ready to transform them into contemporary and functional items.
Chia-Yu arrives with a replica post box, an item from her wedding. She is originally from Taiwan, where a wedding day tradition sees guests post money and gifts into a box for the happy couple. Ten years later, she and her husband cannot decide what to do with it. Metalwork specialists Titch and Leigh pitch ideas that will turn the post box into a functional and treasured possession.
Kay brings in a battered-looking armchair that belonged to her grandad. It was the chair he always sat in, but now, because of its sorry state, it is where people sit when they have run out of other chairs. Master upholsterer Alex has an idea to transform the chair into a multi-purpose piece of furniture that will also reflect Kay’s family history.
Carpentry expert Shelley has her work cut out when Allan and Yvette bring in an old church pew. It was a gift from Yvette’s mum and came from the church where they got married. It has been lying neglected in the garden, but Shelley is determined to bring it back to life and make something for the couple to enjoy together.
