Michael C Hall - award-winning actor and star of the hit TV show 'Dexter', and the man hand-picked by David Bowie to star in his musical 'Lazarus' - chooses Tracks Of My Years.
Michael began his career on Broadway as Emcee in Cabaret after he was cast by Sam Mendes, and he first came to widespread attention with the role of David Fisher in the hit HBO undertaker drama Six Feet Under in 2001. When that ended in 2005 he was cast in the role that would make his name – Dexter. In the show – which Michael also produced - he played a blood-spatter analyst who moonlights as a serial killer/vigilante. The show ran for 8 award-winning seasons, and it’s recently been announced Dexter will return for a 10 episode limited series later this year.
After Dexter finished in 2013, Michael assumed the lead role of Hedwig in Hedwig and The Angry Inch on Broadway from 2014-2015. He was then hand selected by David Bowie to star as Thomas Newton in the stage production of Lazarus and he later appeared in the London Production which drew widespread critical acclaim.
More recently Michael played John F Kennedy in The Crown.
Michael is the lead vocalist and primary songwriter in the band Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum. He met bandmates Matt Katz-Bohen and Peter Yanowitz on the set of Hedwig in 2014 and they formed the band shortly thereafter. Their shared love of pushing art into uncharted territories results in adventurous and bold experimental arrangements shines on their debut album THANKS FOR COMING, which has just been released
The first two tracks Michael has chosen come from B. J. Thomas and Queen. Plus Ken's got another round of PopMaster and your love song dedications. If you'd like to contact the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
