Davina McCall and Arthur Parkinson

Davina McCall chats to Zoe about her brand new documentary for Channel 4 - Sex, Myths and The Menopause. Arthur Parkinson talks to Zoe about his new gardening book.

Davina McCall chats to Zoe about her brand new documentary for Channel 4 - Sex, Myths and The Menopause. With startling honesty, Davina describes her own menopause journey, busting the myths surrounding the transition, and dispelling the shame and fear around hormone replacement therapy. In the film Davina will fearlessly tackle the midlife taboo that can destroy women鈥檚 jobs and relationships, and will look at the lack of understanding and misinformation that still exists around the menopause.

Arthur Parkinson, the gardener and writer, tells Zoe about his latest book The Flower Yard. This is gardening done entirely in pots, yet on a grand scale that will inspire anyone who wants their doorstep or patio to be a glamorous and lively canvas that nurtures them visually and mentally. From jewel scatterings of crocus, flocks of parrot tulips and scented sweet peas to galaxies of single dahlias, towering giraffes of amaryllises grown inside for winter and endless vases of cut blooms through the seasons.

Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, she and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners, and more music that you can shake a glitterball at!

There's also a daily Pause For Thought and listeners on the line, as Zoe entertains the nation with fun for the family!

Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

I nearly married Pamela Anderson.聽聽True!聽聽聽You may have noticed in the showbiz news this week that a film is being made about the iconic Baywatch star鈥檚 relationship with Tommy Lee.聽聽Well, I nearly married her!聽聽

OK, what I mean is, she and Tommy Lee wanted to renew their vows and wanted to do it in Scotland, in some wonderfully romantic Highland hideaway with just them and a few dozen photographers and journalists.聽聽How I ended up being asked I have no idea, but I was. So it was all set up 鈥 I spruced up my full kilt outfit with best sporran - there was even a limo hired to drive me all the way up north!聽聽

Anyway, a few days before the big day, the weather turned arctic. I got a phone call - it was all off.聽聽My new best friends Pamela and Tommy headed back to America. Still, I鈥檝e dined out on the story for years now!聽聽

Of course, I am just name-dropping鈥β犅燤ost of us get a thrill from having met someone famous.聽聽We kind of hope that a tiny bit of their fame, or their celebrity will somehow be reflected onto us and we鈥檒l maybe seem a bit more interesting or important.聽聽When other people do it I usually comment, 鈥淵ou know, the Queen and I really dislike name-dropping鈥︹

So when it comes to my Christian faith it鈥檚 astonishing to think, as Christians do, that God 鈥 yes, God, actually wants to be known by us! And you can鈥檛 get a bigger celebrity than that! But of course, there鈥檚 one thing which would beat meeting or even knowing someone famous or important, and that would be if they knew you.聽聽I doubt Pamela Anderson would remember my name at all 鈥 sob, sob!聽聽But the utterly amazing thing, for me, is not just that we鈥檙e able to go looking for God and actually find God, it鈥檚 that God came looking for us.聽聽Now, almost meeting, almost 鈥榤arrying,鈥 Pamela Anderson may sound impressive, but not half as impressive as knowing that God is with me, every day; God knows my name, has it written on the palm of his hand; will never forget me; loves me and will never let me go!聽聽Wow!
