Oscars Review Special

A look back on the 93rd Academy Awards, which experimented with a new format that included an in-person ceremony which took contributions from multiple locations.

Talking Movies looks back on the 93rd Academy Awards staged in LA鈥檚 Union Square Station - Hollywood's biggest night of the year - hearing from many of the big winners. Chloe Zhao, who made history by becoming the first woman of colour to triumph for best director, discusses best picture winner Nomadland and the significance of her Oscar victory. While the ceremony did embrace diversity, the programme looks at how there were some complaints that it wasn鈥檛 considered inclusive enough. Talking Movies also reviews the elaborate efforts made to stage an in-person ceremony despite the pandemic - an endeavour not seen as being totally successful. And the show reports on the small red carpet and how the stylists worked hard to bring big name stars out in stunning outfits to make it feel more like a traditional Oscars night.
