Pause For Thought

Pause For Thought

Today marks the next stage of coronavirus restrictions easing. As well as the long awaited return of being able to hug loved ones, places of worship continue to open up, as weddings and funerals can begin to take place once again. I am particularly excited that I get to start live performances again after so long, as my tour dates from last year kick off in the next few weeks. As so many things we have put on hold are finally able to pass, this is a poem for rescheduled events:

A poem for rescheduled events

This wasn鈥檛 how we pictured this -

it definitely wasn鈥檛 when,

but the best part of听

产别蝉迟-濒补颈诲-辫濒补苍蝉-濒补颈诲-产补谤别鈥檚

the chance to start again.

The who is almost what it was,

the where鈥檚 not quite the same.

For all that鈥檚 happened in-between

the why remains unchanged.

When they told us we couldn鈥檛 do this,

we heard we couldn鈥檛 do this听then.

When they said it鈥檚 not possible

under our breath we muttered听yet.

Unless it meant something to us听

then we would not have fought for this,

the fact that we are here at all听

shows how important it all is.

When this was under threat

we did not run the other way,听

we stood our ground听

and we announced

it will get done another day.

For us the question wasn鈥檛 if or when,听

simply a case of how,

the joy of not doing it then听

is that we get to do this now.

Its not the hiccups we remember

it鈥檚 how long we held our breath,

we鈥檒l cling that much closer to life

for having come closer to death.

We will be softer, and laugh longer

when it comes to this attempt.

For as they say: First the

disrupted-by-a-global-pandemic,

Second the best.
