Young farmers treading the boards, whiskey talking and electronic chanters for one pipe band returning to rehearsals

An unexpected drama for Moycraig鈥檚 young farmers as told for television, Whiskey Talking, and Tullylagan鈥檚 pipers resume rehearsals with electronic chanters.

Rab Lennox, Diana Culbertson, Jonnie Crawford and Willie Hill bring the blether and banter to this week鈥檚 Kintra. Guests include Mark Thompson who presents 鈥淲hiskey Talking鈥 鈥 a 大象传媒 NI documentary about the history of the dram as enjoyed here and in Scotland. Stacey Dickie and David Hodges talk about another bank holiday programme of Ulster-Scots interest 鈥 鈥淔rom Tractor to Actor鈥. The programme follows Moycraig鈥檚 young farmers as they prepare and perform their annual drama production 鈥 but the decades long tradition has an abrupt end during lockdown.
And the pipes, the pipes are calling as Tullylagan鈥檚 band restarts 鈥 but with a different sound. For safe rehearsals, they鈥檝e moved to electronic chanters!
As always, the Kintra team loves to hear from listeners 鈥 especially when there鈥檚 a yarn to share, an Ulster-Scots event to promote or a story you think others would enjoy. You can email the Kintra team at kintra@bbc.co.uk
