In Episode 3 of Huey鈥檚 Latin Music Adventure, Huey goes back to the source and plays the music that originated out of Cuba and Puerto Rico.
The two nations have huge ex-pat communities living in New York, and it was these communities who brought with them the original sounds that would develop into Salsa, Boogaloo, Latin Jazz, Latin Freestyle and a bunch of other genres.
Having visited both places before the pandemic, Huey will play some of his favourite tracks that he discovered on those trips. As always he鈥檒l also feature some of the New York artists whose ancestry is in Puerto Rico and Cuba.
A Cuban album that is inescapable is Buena Vista Social Club. Huey will hear from the head of World Circuit Records, Nick Gold, about the sessions that resulted in that classic recording.
