The ultimate classical football mix
In Tune's Classical Music Football Mixtape: celebrating the Euro 2020 football finals with a sequence of music associated with and inspired by the beautiful game.
Celebrate the British home nations competing in the finals of Euro 2020 with an uninterrupted sequence of football-related classical music! From opera arias and anthems appropriated by TV for big international competitions, and grand orchestral themes played out as club teams walk onto the pitch, to songs hijacked by fans and belted out from the stands, the In Tune Mixtape pays tribute to the beautiful game. There's music by soccer-mad composer Shostakovich, a famous film score by Elmer Bernstein, and a setting of the Gloria by Poulenc, who is said to have been inspired by watching monks playing a football match. Whether or not you know the Italian words to Volare or Nessun Dorma, sing along with gusto to music by Rogers and Hammerstein, Puccini, Handel, Fauré, and Prokofiev.
