On The Afternoon Show today, Grant Stott looks ahead to The Coming Back Out Ball which takes place online this Saturday. It’s a celebration of the history of LGBTI Elders in Scotland. Grant will be joined by Lewis Hetherington, the creative lead of the project from the National Theatre of Scotland, performer Horse McDonald, and Carrie Bates and Colin Mitchell from the LGBTI Elders community.

Grant will also be speaking to the internationally bestselling American crime writer Karin Slaughter, to hear about the Save the Libraries project she founded, her novel Pieces of Her which is in development with Netflix, and her new novel False Witness.

Grant also hosts a discussion on the part podcasts have played in people’s lives during the pandemic, the current podcast trends and how podcasts have grown in popularity with the host of Tales from the Tannoy podcast Elinor Hamilton. Best known as the voice behind the announcements on the London Underground, Elinor talks about what inspired her to make a podcast focusing on people whose voiceover work has made them famous, while delving into their fascinating personal lives.

It’s Movie Review day so Grant and today’s critics Siobhan Synnot and Ali Harkness discuss the new Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci poignant love story Supernova, there’s a look at Fast 9 – the latest in the massively popular Fast and the Furious film series, and on the 20th anniversary of Shrek as there’s a special new release in 4K.
