Insects, a Labyrinth and a Fishing Challenge

These days Loch of Strathbeg between Peterhead and Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. But during the First World War, it was the site of a Royal Naval Air Service seaplane station. Mark meets a local historian at the site who tells him more.

Mark is in Forres admiring some chainsaw carvings. He finds out how Garry Shand, the man behind them, got into carving in the first place.

Helen explains how has been overcoming her fear of hens to the point of almost enjoying keeping some chickens on her farm in Aberdeenshire.

We are joined live by Sandy Bremner, chairman of The River Dee Trust, as they embark on a 24-hour fishing challenge to compete for the honour to open next year's salmon fishing season on the Dee.

The East Neuk Festival in Fife kicks off next week and Mark鈥檚 been down for a sneak peak at one of their attractions this year, a labyrinth at Kellie Castle.
