Norwegian duo Mol and Sorum were taken to a tight third set by Australia's McHugh and Schumann at the Shiokaze Park beach volleyball centre and a replay of the grueling road race saw the top men's cyclists competing on a course with tough climbs and a finish on a motor racing track. Tour de France winner Pogacar and van Aert, who won the final Tour sprint in Paris, battled against a high quality field which included Brit Adam Yates and Ecuador's Richard Carapaz.
