Live music from Roger Taylor

Roger Taylor of Queen plays live, featuring a track from his just released album, Outsider. Plus on National Poetry Day, Ken introduces Jackie Kay, former poet laureate of Scotland.

Roger Taylor - musician, singer, film producer and drummer with Queen - plays live for Ken, featuring a track from his just released solo album 'Outsider'.

Having released his new single 'We're All Just Trying To Get By' back in August, earlier this month Roger released his new LP 'Outsider', his first album of new material in 8 years. The album was mostly recorded during lockdown and contains a mixture of contemplative songs and hard-riffing blues-rock, as well as a surprise retread of a classic 1965 novelty song. Roger will tour 'Outsider' with 14 solo live shows, his first live performances away from Queen in over two decades.

Plus, on National Poetry Day as part of Black History Month, Ken introduces Jackie Kay - former Makar, poet laureate of Scotland - with a poem especially written for Radio 2.

Emmy, Grammy and Tony-winning actor and singer Cynthia Erivo picks her penultimate Tracks Of My Years. She has just released her debut album of original music as a recording artist. 'Ch. 1 Vs. 1', which has been described as "a 12-track journey into her mental and emotional landscape鈥攐ne marked by heartbreak and sadness, but also triumph and growth". Cynthia co-wrote every track on the album, including 'The Good', which was Radio 2-playlisted earlier this year. The next two tracks she has chosen come from India Arie and Yebba.
