Friday - Live with the 大象传媒 Philharmonic

Live from MediaCity, Rory MacDonald conducts the 大象传媒 Philharmonic in Strauss鈥檚 Metamorphosen. Plus Schumann's Fourth Symphony from Wismar, Monteverdi, Mozart and Judith Weir.

The afternoon kicks off with a live concert from MediaCity in Salford, where Rory MacDonald conducts the 大象传媒 Philharmonic in an all-Strauss programme, featuring a selection of his songs with soprano Elizabeth Watts, followed by his tone poem Metamorphosen.

After 3 o鈥檆lock Tom continues his focus on great Romantic symphonies this week with Schumann鈥檚 Fourth, in its original 1841 version 鈥� Alan Gilbert conducts the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in a performance recorded at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festivalin September. There's also Monteverdi performed by the Youth of La Capella Reial de Catalunya and new music by Judith Weir from the Vale of Glamorgan Festival. The week ends with Mozart's "Haffner" Symphony from the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
