Man Handled

January 16, 1998. The ambush of Monica does not go as the prosecutors and the FBI expect. With a deadline looming, they put pressure on the stressed but stubborn young woman.

Judge Kenneth Starr assigns his gentler lead prosecutor, Mike Emmick, to persuade Monica to aid their case. In the room at the hotel near where she was picked up, Emmick tells her she faces various felony charges, including lying under oath about signing the affidavit denying a sexual relationship with President Clinton. However, she may get immunity if she makes some incriminating calls to key players.

Near hysterical under the stress, Monica is appalled at the idea of betraying Clinton or others. Told not to involve a lawyer, Monica instead insists she must speak to her mother, Marcia Lewis, in New York. Starr is under pressure to get results before Clinton gives a deposition in the Paula Jones case the next day, so he sends the aggressive Jackie Bennett to work on Monica.

Marcia lets her ex-husband, Dr Bernie Lewinsky, know of Monica鈥檚 plight, and he involves his attorney Bill Ginsburg. Meanwhile, Ann Coulter has been going through the tedious recordings Linda made.
