Iain Robertson continues his coast-to-coast walk along the Southern Upland Way.
With 122 miles still ahead of him, Iain sets out from Sanquhar with his friend actor Howard Ward. With the sun beating down on them, Iain and Howard part ways at Wanlockhead and Iain continues on past Lowther Hill and into the Dalveen Pass.
The following day sees Iain buoyed by the fact that he has crossed the 100-mile mark and reached the halfway point. As he heads down towards Beattock, he is surprised by the amount of rally cars on the road and has to jump into the verge as the cars fly past.
Enjoying a well-earned rest, Iain takes advantage of the fact that his chef neighbour Christine Burke is holidaying in the area in her camper van. She drives Iain to the Gray Mare鈥檚 Tail waterfall before cooking him a meal by the Devil鈥檚 Beef Tub.
Iain continues to Phawhope Bothy, passing the Craigmichen Scar from when Scotland and England land masses collided many millions of years ago. The following day sees Iain joined by actor Jasmine Main as they root around the graveyard in Ettrick looking for James Hogg鈥檚 grave. However, this stretch of the walk is brought to an end in style as Jasmine persuades Iain to experience the joys of wild swimming in St Mary鈥檚 Loch.
