The Story Of... Electropop!
The Blessed Madonna shares songs of personal and historical significance that tell the story of dance music in all its forms. This week, it is all to do with electropop.
Electropop really is what it says as the tin - it combines elements of electronic music and pop genres.
Electropop first emerged from the United Kingdom in the early 1980s, though its history begins a decade or so earlier when musicians like Germany鈥檚 Kraftwerk, French composer Jean-Michel Jarre and Yellow Magic Orchestra from Japan began composing and performing pop and dance music with electronic instruments.
Some fascinating new music began arriving on British shores; it was dubbed electropop, because of the electronic instrumentation. The Blessed Madonna shares some important electropop tunes from the history books, as well as some more personal favourites.
