Seek the light

Violinist Hugo Ticciati directs the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in music by Tarrodi, T眉眉r, Vasks and a new commission by Karine Polwart and Pippa Murphy.

Violinist Hugo Ticciati directs the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in a programme inspired by the natural world. Its centrepiece is a new commission of spoken word, song and instrumental music by Scottish singer-songwriter Karine Polwart and composer Pippa Murphy. Swedish composer, Andrea Tarrodi鈥檚 short work Birds of Paradise was inspired by one of the 大象传媒鈥檚 Planet Earth films about the strange and beautiful birds of paradise while Erkki Sven T眉眉r work is inspired by the cooler landscape of his homeland Estonia. The violin concerto by Latvian composer Peteris Vasks completes this Nordic and Baltic vista of landscapes; a contemplative work with bursts of drama and melancholy and a sense of nostalgia for distant memories. The concert is presented by Kathryn Tickell.
