Kate comes across an interesting sea creature, known as a sunfish, which is native to tropical waters but is likely to have been carried to the islands by the Gulf Stream.

Tha Kate Nicleòid, maighdeann-mhara Innse Gall, gar toirt air turas gu cuid de na ceàrnaidhean àlainn nach eil cho aithnichte sna h-Eileanan an Iar agus bidh i a’ coinneachadh ri seanchaidhean le sgeulachdan iongantach mu na h-àiteachan air a bheil i gu math dèidheil, os cionn agus fon uisge.

Anns an dàrna prògram, tha Kate a’ faicinn creutair mara iongantach air a bheil sunfish, a tha nas cumanta ann an uisgeachan nas blàithe, ach a bhios air a thighinn gu na h-eileanan an cois Sruth a’ Chuain Shiair a Tuath. Bidh an t-iasg seo a’ snàmh air a’ chliathaich, leis a’ ghrèin a’ teasachadh a bhodhaig agus bidh e ag ithe sgeoldairean.

Tha i cuideachd a’ dol air chuairt a dh’ Eilean Tharasaigh, far a bheil cuid de na tràighean as bòidhche agus as sònraichte a tha ri fhaicinn anns na h-Eileanan an Iar, àite a bha gu math beòthail uaireigin le trì bailtean, ach a tha a-nis na dhachaigh do na fèidh, na h-eòin mhara agus an crodh.

Gus ionnsachadh mu dheidhinn nan daoine a bha a’ fuireach ann an Tarasaigh uaireigin, tha Kate a’ faighinn cothrom bruidhinn ris an sloinntear ainmeil, Bill Lawson, a chur seachad ùine na òige còmhla ri na daoine mu dheireadh a bha a’ fuireach air an eilean.

Kate Macleod, The Hebridean Mermaid, takes us on a journey to some of the hidden gems of the Hebrides, meeting tradition bearers with remarkable stories about the places she loves to visit the most, above and below the water.

Kate comes across an interesting sea creature, known as a sunfish, which is native to tropical waters, but is likely to have been carried to the islands by the Gulf Stream. Swimming on its side, the sun heats its body and it feeds on jellyfish.

She also journeys to Taransay, home to some of the most stunning and unique beaches in the Outer Hebrides. Once a thriving community, the island had three villages, but is now home to deer, seabirds and cattle. To learn more about the people who once lived in Taransay, Kate speaks to well-known genealogist Bill Lawson, who spent time in his youth with the last people to live on the island.
